Keeping the Lights On: Innovation and Investment in Grid Modernization

America’s electric grid is being pushed beyond its limits by rising demand, aging infrastructure, and rapid technological change. As electrification and AI accelerate, outdated transmission and distribution systems are driving higher costs, reliability risks, cybersecurity concerns, and prolonged delays for new clean energy projects. Modernizing the grid requires coordinated action across policymakers, utilities, regulators, and consumers to create a system that is flexible, secure, and capable of integrating renewable and distributed energy at scale. This panel will explore the policy pathways, partnerships, and investments needed to keep the lights on in our 21st-century energy future.
